Summer 2007

It is now almost holiday time and in just over a week Jan & I leave. Last year we had our first proper summer trip together spending time in Kenya, Uganda and Zanzibar. For most of that we were with others on a safari tour. A few pictures from that trip can be found on the link to pictures under Africa.
This year it is just Jan & I travelling for a month. We shall be stopping first of all in Bonaire for diving, then going on to Ecuador to travel around. We intend to stay in Quito, the second highest capital in the world at some 2800 metres high, for a couple of days then go to the Amazon rain forest to look at the animals and birds before travelling south down the "Avenue of the Volcanoes" past Cotapaxi, then onto the coastal area to look at Isla de Plata and hopefully see some of the big hump back whales. Jan visited Quito two years ago while travelling in Bolivia, Peru and The Galapagos Islands but didnt get a chance to travel around Ecuador.
I shall be returning to Bonaire after first going there with my children, Andrew and Karen, two years ago. Bonaire is a small island, and along with Aruba and Curacao they are the "A B C Islands", part of the Dutch Antilles group in the far south just of the coast of Venezuala. Bonaire is a divers paradise and is rated as one of the best in the world. It is also where Andrew, Karen and I became qualified divers. Jan qualified the same year in The Red Sea. Jan & I dived together for the first time in Zanzibar last year. The island is a marine nature reserve and has some of the best coral in the world. We are staying at a place called Deep Blue View and shall spend most of the time diving and looking at the undersea side of the world. To find out more about Bonaire just click on a link. You never know we may just pop up on one of the underwater webcams!!.

Hopefully, if all goes well we shall be able to update this site occasionally on our travels with words and pictures if we can find an internet connection and the computer works.

Lily, Cutlie and I e.g. your beloved daughter, (reading this in a lesson :O) felt this this was a rather good read...good beginning...Cutlie felt it lagged a little in the middle due to a heavy reliance on descriptive diction. A few more pictures and interesting information on flight time etc, may keep the readers on their toes!!
Lots of Love...Lillian Olley, Karen S Taylor, and Miss L C Cutlie (Cuts)
