New Year- New Location

Hi from Windhoek, Namibia

Jan and I are now on our annual holiday, this year exploring Namibia
25 hours after leaving home we touched down at Windhoek airport after transfers at Paris and Johannesburg. Flights were long and boring but we did get to go on the new Airbus A380 from Paris down to Jo'burg.
Still managed very little sleep though.
Looking down on Zambia, Botswana and Namibia from the planes it didnt look a lot different from looking down on southern England and Northern France, both scorched brown and dry.
1st impressions of Namibia is it will be a great place to tour round, some hills, mountains, large river valleys (very dry) and the coast.
We have been out this morning from our fantastic little guest house in the hills just on the edge of Windhoek to collect our car and all the equipment needed for a self sufficient safari around Namibia. Although just the two of us the car is completely full of tents, camping equipment, and fridges to make it comfortable. We have yet to get in lots of water plus our bags, camerasx and equipment brought from UK. After collecting the car it was a short stop at the supermarket for supplies etc then back here to start to repack the car. It does all fit but it is now like a jigsaw and all the spaces filled.
Last night, although very tired we did get out, by taxi as it is not recommended to walk around after dark. We went to Joe's Beerhouse, highly reccomended by a guy on the plane here plus the guesthouse owner. It was good, great steaks plus Zebra, Kudu, Ostrich and many other game meats. But they also did veggie food so was good for both of us. Pity just too tired to stay so we were home by 8.00 to sleep.
The weather may be a little odd as it is bright and sunny with temperatures into the high 20s in daylight but down to freezing when the sun sets. Sorts and tee sirts in day and woollen fleeces and long warm trousers at night.
No pictures yet but they will follow.
No idea on when and how we get connections but as we do then more will surely follow from around and about.
Tomorrow we start out for Waterburg Plateau and a few days of walking
