OK last night in Bali before we fly of to the wilderness of Komodo and staying on a boat.
You would have had pictures but could not get the good internet connection to work so we are in a internet hut in Sanur.
Had a great time, not done too much but been out and about a bit. The Island is beautiful with magnificent scenery, wonderful temples and very friendly people.
We took a day out with our own driver and traveled along the east of the Island looking first at a couple of temples, one being the Mother Temple of Bali at Bisakeh. It was huge with fantastic architecture. Almost all was very peaceful with the exception of the hassle you get from street vendors, so called guides and people offering to show you how to get in here or there for vast sums of money. Still you just say no and no and no and ok you got it, it goes on forever!!!
We then went to Gunang Batur, an active volcano within the huge ancient crater of another. The clouds lifted and we could see the top. Very impressive
Beaches are gooid, sea is very warm. altogether a really lovely place.
Food is interesting some straight out of the cookery books of Letitia (think that is her name) from Vicar of Dibley
A very nice chocolate cake with grated cheese on top (cheese similar to cheddar not marscapone) Croissant type bread with chocolate and sliced cheese (theme coming of chocolate and cheese)
Best of all for breakfast a really nice looking small round jelly, white wrapped in a small banana leaf. Unwrap it and you find the lower part is green. Looks good, top is a coconut type jelly, very nice, bottom may be lime but no. No idea on flavour but has sweetcorn in it. Not that nice for breakfast but still we can have fried rice or fried noodles always on menu early in the morning
Thats it until we return from Komodo except to say Nick our brilliant photographer had put our pictures on his website
If you look it will be before we have had a good chance
