Rio De Janeiro

Rio is a fantastic looking city and although we have only been here less than 36 hours we do like the area we are in which is Ipanema.

Seems lots of coincidences at the moment as we found out yesterday that the song "Girl from Ipanema" was published 50 years ago yesterday and the first bar we went into in Rio was the bar it was written in. The melody from the song is everywhere, perhaps as could be expected. 

Ipanema Beach and Copacobana Beach, its next door neighbour are beautiful. pure white sand, blue sea and a back drop of funny shaped hills behind the high rise hotels etc. Both are heaving and this is mid winter here. 

We have not spent a great deal of time here in Rio , just a day really and fly out tomorrow to The Iguacu Falls and further on to The Pantanal but we come back at the end to see more of Rio and get to places like "Christ The Redeemer" and Sugar Loaf Mountain.
