We are now back in the "metropolis" of Maun after a few days in the bush. (OK Maun is not a metropolis but a long strung out village with an International Airport that features heavily in the TV series being aired on Dave plus others in the UK)
We had a great time in the bush seeing lots of animals and even sort of enjoyed the 5 hour journey to Maun on dirt tracks and bump sand roads through the edge of the Okavango Delta.
We are staying at a nice but slightly impersonal lodge beside the river but Jan likes it as they do a good Veggie Curry.

Yesterday we had an early morning call for a flight out onto an Island in the middle of the Okavango Delta before taking a Makoro (type of wooden Canoe then a 5-6 km walk through the bush following lion tracks (but no sign sadly). It was a great day finished of with just 3 of us plus the pilot in the plane on the way back. I sat in the spare pilots seat and once airborn from the tiny strip I was handed the controls and flew the plane back to Maun airport spotting elephants and Giraffes as we went flying at 700 feet.

Now we travel away from the wet Delta and back to the very dry desert like surrounds of the Makgadikgadi Pans and back into our trusty 4 wheel drive car and the bedroom on top for a few days.
