After a fantastic week in the north of Zambia at Ndola we have now moved down to Livingstone. First of all a great big thanks to all the team at Beyond Ourselves, Jodie, Dan, Melissa, Malcolm, Emily, all the children and especially the staff and children at Janna, Greater Joy and Kawama schools for making our time so special. We can say now that we are looking forward to our return in June to work with you.
Livingstone is on the Zambia side of the Victoria Falls so it was a must go to once we had collected our home for the next 2 weeks. This id a 4x4 Toyota fitted out with fridge, water and cooking facilities plus 2 ensuite bedrooms on the roof (OK Tents and I made up the bit about being ensuite).
We were at Victoria Falls 18 months ago on the Zimbabwe side and it was in the dry season. The photo at the head of the blog is taken then looking towards the Zambian side where you can see the people on the cliff across the dry gorge. Note how little water is flowing over and how little spray there is around.
Yesterday was very different with the river now in full flow and the gorge and air filled with spray. It is like walking through a monsoon downpour.
Assuming the 2 pictures below load you can see the same section of waterfall as in the picture taken back in 2013 but this time we are on the cliff opposite.
Although it was very hot and getting wet is not a problem the ponchos were needed to keep cameras etc dry.
We now move on touring around southern Zambia and the Zambezi River Valley for the next few days
