Seems a while since we posted on here (Oh it is a while, It was back in the summer in Canada and Alaska)
Yes I know it is not summer but as we have retired and lots going on we felt it was time we returned to Africa but this time with a difference. We shall be in Zambia, a new country for both of us, for three weeks. Starting at the back end, weeks 2 & 3 will be a usual type trip where we are hiring a 4x4 kitted out for us with roof tents and all the bits we require for a trip in the south of the country. We start at Livingstone by the Victoria Falls and drive through various parks etc to end up in the capital, Lusaka for the flight home. This will be the rainy season and our first time at driving in the wet weather so it could be fun. We hope to be able to update what we are doing and put photos up as we travel but internet is not always the most reliable in that part of the world.
Now we said that is the 2nd and 3rd weeks so what I hear you say is the first part. Many of you may know that Jan and I have thought about living abroad for a while and with that in mind we have been discussing working voluntarily for a charity. We are spending the first week in the north of Zambia in the "Copperbelt" area looking at 3 schools in Ndola and Kitwe where a charity we have been talking with would like us to assist them. We are going out to see what is required and more about the area so both of us and the charity can see if we will fit in with it all. If this is the case, and we certainly believe it will be then we shall be moving out to live there for a year or two starting sometime about the middle of this year in June.
Very exciting times and lots to look forward to
Postings as we can over the next month so look back often and please feel free to comment as we enjoy reading them
Mike & Jan
